HOW TO JOIN HILLINGDON SWIMMING CLUB

INTERESTED IN JOINING HSC?

Hillingdon Swimming Club is currently organised into 2 houses, Ruislip-Northwood Swim Squad (RNSS) and the Hillingdon Borough Elite Swimming Team (HBEST).

RNSS takes swimmers from beginner through to County standard whereas the HBEST squads swim to Regional, National and International times. Novice swimmers showing potential may be invited to move onto the RNSS competitive swimming squad and RNSS swimmers demonstrating the appropriate qualities may be invited to join the HBEST squads.

HOW TO JOIN

Please email the membership secretary or trials manager indicating that you are interested in joining the club. We will contact you as soon as possible.

Joining a swimming club for the first time

What will happen when I make a new membership enquiry?

  • You will be contacted and asked a few relevant questions e.g. prospective swimmer's age, address, telephone number and current level of swimming ability.
  • Your details will then be passed on to the trials manager, who will arrange a mutually convenient time when the swimmer can attend a trial swim with one of our coaches.
  • If the trial is successful, and a place is available, the swimmer will be allocated to the appropriate squad.
  • If no place is currently available, you will be placed on the waiting list.

Transferring from another club

What will happen when I make a new membership enquiry?

  • You will be contacted and asked a few relevant questions including previous club experience and current level of swimming ability.
  • Our membership secretary will then determine the house most appropriate to your swimming experience (RNSS or HBEST).
  • Our head coach will contact the head coach of your current club to discuss the proposed move in the context of your training needs.
  • If it is agreed that the move is in the best interest of the swimmer and a place is available the swimmer will be allocated to the appropriate squad
  • Membership requests from swimmers seeking to return to Hillingdon SC after a move to another club will be considered on a case by case basis.
All members
  • There will be ongoing assessment of each swimmer’s progress.
  • The squad coach will discuss any issues that may arise with the swimmer, and their family if appropriate. We hope swimmers and families will do the same.
  • Please be aware that joining HSC is a big commitment for both swimmer and family in terms of time and energy. Each swimmer is expected to attend the required number of sessions, whenever possible, and also be available for galas when requested.
